Lewis Hamilton talks about a bond with Ferrari that began in his early years of racing and about the events that unfolded in 2021:
In a candid interview with GQ Magazine, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton shares his story. And in retracing a life of racing, music, fashion, and entertainment, Ferrari could not be missing.
Lewis Hamilton will be a driver for the Maranello team starting with the 2025 Formula 1 championship. A dream that has been a long time in the making.
“I believe I’ve been thinking about Ferrari subconsciously since my early years,” admits Lewis Hamilton. “It’s a dream that has always been there for me. It’s always been there, hanging over me.” – he pointed out.
However, in 2024, the Brit is driving for Mercedes. And his intention is to finish this journey on a high note, which has allowed him to win no less than six drivers’ titles.
“I want to take Mercedes as high as possible,” explains the British driver – “I don’t see this year as a farewell year. My hunger is the same as ever. I want to crush the other teams. My approach is and will remain the same, until the last race. I don’t want my mind to be distracted by what comes after.”

Not after, but before. Because, by his own admission, the outcome of the 2021 world championship is still painful in the Englishman’s mind.
2021: “Seeing the footage still hurts”
“Was I robbed?” “It seems obvious,” Lewis plainly states. “You know the story. From that moment, I cherish the relationship with my father. We’ve been through a rollercoaster together. And he was there, in the most difficult moment for me. Watching footage of the race, I still feel those sensations. But now I’m at peace with myself.”
Looking at the current championship, Lewis Hamilton admitted to feeling more prepared than ever. Yet, thoughts of the future, be it Ferrari or off-track interests, are never far from Lewis’s mind.
“I’m training harder than I ever have,” confesses the Brit. “I’m very focused on the present. Obviously, I also think about the future, I have many ideas, but for now, I’m focused on this.” – the seven-time Formula 1 world champion concluded.
