Lewis Hamilton confirmed the straight-line performance problems of the Ferrari SF-25, already described by his teammate Charles Leclerc after the Brazil Sprint.
Four positions gained
The British driver’s Sprint did not start under the best circumstances, as he had qualified only eleventh on the grid on Friday. However, Hamilton got off to a strong start, moving up to eighth place, which later became seventh after Oscar Piastri retired due to a crash. Following the red flag interruption, Hamilton maintained seventh position until the chequered flag, staying closely behind Fernando Alonso in the closing laps.
Lewis Hamilton’s struggles
In statements to Sky UK, Lewis Hamilton confirmed the issues already highlighted by Charles Leclerc at the end of the Sprint: “We have problems with the car’s balance, and our top speed is really low. That’s why we are unable to overtake. We need to figure out how to address this problem ahead of qualifying.”
Overall, Lewis Hamilton appeared reasonably satisfied with his approach to the Sprint: “I enjoyed the race, even though conditions were challenging. I managed to gain a few positions with a strong start, but then the red flag neutralized everything. Up to that point, my pace was quite good, but it was partially nullified when everyone fitted new tyres.” – the seven-time Formula 1 world champion concluded after the Interlagos Sprint race.
