Through the official website of the ‘Quotidiano Nazionale’ newspaper, Scuderia Ferrari insider and F1 expert Leo Turrini commented on the official announcement of Frederic Vasseur becoming the new Ferrari team principal and he did so as always outspoken. According to the well-known journalist, the former Sauber French manager should take a trip to Lourdes. Here are his words.
Turrini: “Other than good wishes: I suggest a trip to Lourdes”
“Now it’s official. The Fred Vasseur era begins in Maranello. You know my opinion, since I anticipated the move by John Elkann and Benedetto Vigna. A passport is not enough to shout out ‘the new Jean Todt'”, Leo Turrini wrote for the ‘Quotidiano Nazionale’.
The Italian journalist added: “And I would have liked to read the name of a new technical director, given that Mattia Binotto, before being ‘buried’, in fact held both positions. But at least one thing was made clear. And it’s time for greetings. Fred Vasseur of a racing expert. He inherits a ready-made single-seater. It can be a bonus, it can be an alibi.” – Leo Turrini pointed out.
Finally, his last comments are full of irony: “Fred Vasseur will have to manage a staff of over a thousand people, in addition to two drivers. He will have to manage Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, revolutionize work in the pit wall, make sense of inadequate communication, recover political power, finally he will have to restore a winning mentality to a team and company that has been losing on the track for 15 years. So more than good luck: I suggest a trip to Lourdes” – the well-known journalist concluded.
