As usual after every Grand Prix, Italian sports journalist and author Leo Turrini, who is famously very close to proceedings at Scuderia Ferrari, was interviewed by Calciomercato.com and asked to comment on the events which took place in the penultimate weekend of the 2022 Formula 1 world championship in Brazil.
Reflecting on the situation at Ferrari, the well-known journalist also addressed the rumours that Mattia Binotto was at risk due to another strategy error of the Maranello pit wall during the qualifying session at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace in Sao Paulo.
Leo Turrini: “Change is not a guarantee of victory”
Below is an excerpt from Leo Turrini’s comments: “Red Bull is behind and our Ferrari still loses anyway? John Elkann will surely point out to Mattia Binotto the one-two finish of Mercedes in Brazil”.
On the possible removal of Mattia Binotto from the role of Ferrari team principal, Italian sports journalist and author added:
“There are a lot of discussions and it is inevitable to be so, the world championship has been missing from Ferrari for too long. But that would be a mistake. Why? Since 2008 Ferrari has passed from Jean Todt to Stefano Domenicali, from Marco Mattiacci to Maurizio Arrivabene. The result? “Zero tituli” to put it as Jose Mourinho. Changing just for the sake of change is never a guarantee of victory. And the 2023 car is already finalized. But I want to be frank: Mattia Binotto must remain as Ferrari boss only if he has the full confidence of the top management”.
