Ferrari is going all-in with the SF-26 in F1: the intertwined destinies of Charles Leclerc, Lewis Hamilton, and Frédéric Vasseur are shaping a season of truth. The 2026 campaign will be decisive: win or overhaul everything, starting from a clean slate. The paddock is buzzing with tension but also focus, and Leo Turrini believes that the future of the Scuderia and its key figures hangs in the balance.
It’s unnecessary to create alarm before seeing the SF-26 on track. In fact, it will still take time before its full potential is clear, whether in Barcelona or Bahrain. In Maranello, work continues tirelessly to lay the foundations for a car that can win, not just offer false hope. The stakes are higher than just the World Championship—the very future of Ferrari is on the line.
Charles Leclerc, Lewis Hamilton, and Frédéric Vasseur could all leave the team for different reasons if disappointment strikes again. Leclerc already has offers from rival teams; Hamilton, approaching retirement, could hang up the wheel; Vasseur, whose confidence was only reaffirmed late in 2025, could be shown the door.
Turrini: “A collective tsunami that could serve as motivation”
On his blog Profondo Rosso, Leo Turrini analyses the expectations surrounding Ferrari: “Does anyone really believe that Frédéric Vasseur could keep his role in case of another failure? Does anyone remember that Hamilton is at the final crossroads of a legendary career, and that in case of a flop retirement would be more than an option? Does anyone think Charles Leclerc could remain at Ferrari after yet another disappointment?”
“To my memory, I cannot recall a season start with so many key destinies simultaneously hanging in the balance. In theory, being collectively exposed to a potential tsunami could even serve as a positive stimulus.”
Leo Turrini also comments on Riccardo Adami leaving his role as trackside engineer: “Adami is an exemplary professional (just ask Vettel or Sainz for confirmation), but there are relationships where trust is fundamental. Moreover, with Hamilton, with affection and respect, all excuses must be removed.”
