At the 2019 Italian Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc ended Ferrari’s nine-year wait for a win at Monza, making it two wins in as many races for the Monegasque driver.
Fast forward 12 months and the 22-year-old is not even considered to be in contention to win in Italy – that’s according to the online bookmakers.
Unsurprisingly, Lewis Hamilton is a 1/2 favourite to emerge victorious on Sunday, with his teammate Valtteri Bottas next in the betting with at 9/2. Max Verstappen is a 6/1 shot, and nobody else is priced in single figures.
The odds, of course, differ across various bookies, and it is important to compare sportsbooks through websites such as MyBettingsites.com to ensure you are using the best Formula One betting sites.
Leclerc is priced at 300/1 to win the Italian Grand Prix this week, and perhaps understandably given Ferrari’s struggles in 2020 while many other teams have progressed.
But it would be foolish to rule out Leclerc, and the 80/1 quote for him to be in the top three might not be the worst bet of the weekend. He does have a second and a third-place finish this season, and good track form certainly won’t hurt his chances.
Even a flawless drive might not be enough to disturb Hamilton, Bottas and Verstappen so it could be worth a look at the top six finish market, in which Leclerc is 13/2. Alternatively, you can grab him at Evens to end up in the points.
It has not been a year to remember for Sebastian Vettel in his final season with Ferrari and if you thought Leclerc’s odds were big for success at Monza, Vettel’s are on another level.
The German has three Italian Grand Prix victories to his name, but his odds to make it four are 750/1. Even a podium looks out of the question, with one betting site offering 150/1 on the four-time Formula One World Champion coming home in third or better.
Vettel managed to finish sixth in Hungary in July and he is 12/1 to pick up his second top six of the campaign, while a points finish is priced at 11/10.
The odds for both Leclerc and Vettel to pick up points at Monza are 4/1. Conversely, you can back Ferrari in the first car retirement market, for which the odds are 7/1. Leclerc has been forced to retire twice this season, and Vettel failed to finish the Styrian Grand Prix.
Outside of the finishing position markets, there are many interesting props to choose from on F1 betting sites. You can back ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ on whether or not there will be a safety car, the winning margin, and the grid position of the winner.
There will also be no shortage of betting opportunities in-play. In fact, the best time to spot value might be during the race as the strategy of each team begins to play out.
