After the tension experienced by Ferrari due to the delay in the delivery of materials, as a result of flight delays from Miami, the Maranello team started the Interlagos weekend with greater serenity. Laurent Mekies, Sporting Director of Ferrari, confirmed the arrival of the components and the subsequent completion of the work by the mechanics.
The French engineer, interviewed by Sky Sport F1 just before the start of the first free practice session at Autódromo José Carlos Pace, explained the operations completed by the Maranello team’s men in the middle of the night, as well as the sensations in view of the third and final Sprint Qualifying of the year: “The material has arrived – he commented – but it was not certain that the transfer from two countries so far away would take place. Credit must be given to Formula 1, which was very good at organizing everything. Even if the delivery came late, like engine and car, everything is now available. The mechanics worked very peacefully yesterday, and they finished regularly at midnight. There is nothing to worry about” – Laurent Mekies said.

“For the Sprint Qualifying the key will be to find the right balance. It is a session with a positive pressure for us and brings a greater challenge on the ability to better prepare the car, in addition to the work we already do normally. But overall, it’s a challenge we like. The track here is very special, we are waiting to see where we will be” – the Ferrari Sporting Director concluded.
