Auto Motor und Sport Formula 1 journalist Michael Schmidt reports on the latest updates regarding F1’s plans for the next season, which will be the 74th running of the Formula One World Championship. The calendar continues to grow, after a few months ago the Las Vegas Grand Prix was announced for the 2023 season, making it the third American circuit on the calendar, after Austin and Miami. The latter of this made its debut in the 2022 campaign.
“The season will be longer, until the middle of December, the season will also start a bit earlier, to create space for the additional races.” – Michael Schmidt informs.
Auto Motor und Sport also shares some specific details regarding the 2023 Formula 1 calendar: “France is definitely out. South Africa looks more like it will be in 2024, and if that were the case then Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps would stay on the calendar for one more year (2023).” Michael Schmidt wrote – “China is desperate to have the Grand Prix, Formula 1 has now included the race in the calendar for now. But if the Covid policy does not change, I don’t think Formula 1 will risk going there. If the GP is cancelled, it will not be replaced, there will only be 23 races. The 2023 Formula One season will start in Bahrain, then there will be a one week break, after that it will be a double header with Jeddah and Melbourne. And after that, there is the question if the race in South Africa will happen or not. That would be the next race.” – Auto Motor und Sport informs.
