At the end of a chaotic qualifying session under the lights of the Las Vegas Strip, Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur chose not to speak to the media at all, leaving everyone stunned after a truly disappointing performance from both red cars.
It turned out to be a far less predictable session than anyone expected. Rain hit the circuit in the closing stages, turning the penultimate-round qualifying of the 2025 season into absolute mayhem — and Ferrari, led by Fred Vasseur, was one of the biggest victims of the chaos.
Lewis Hamilton, also hindered by a late mistake from Haas driver and Ferrari junior Oliver Bearman that brought out yellow flags at the worst possible moment, ended Q1 dead last. That means the seven-time world champion will have to fight through the entire field in Saturday night’s Grand Prix — a mountain almost too steep to climb. His teammate didn’t fare much better, managing only ninth place by the end of Q3.
It’s a result that feels like a punch in the gut, especially after the SF-25 looked genuinely quick in Friday’s free practice sessions and many believed Ferrari could fight for the front row, or at the very least a spot in the top five.
The mystery of Fred Vasseur’s post-qualifying absence
What really raised eyebrows, however, was the complete no-show from Fred Vasseur once the chequered flag dropped in Sin City. The Ferrari team principal did not appear in the media pen, skipped every single interview request, and offered zero explanation for his team’s shocking collapse under the neon lights.
Right now nobody knows exactly why he decided to stay silent. A full media blackout seems unlikely — both Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc faced the microphones and didn’t hold back with some pretty strong words about how tough the session had been.
The question every Tifoso is asking tonight: what on earth is going on at Ferrari?
