The appeal of Italy, its style and its culture, has often been difficult to accommodate for many foreigners who have lived or worked in the country, even more so for the big names linked to the world of entertainment and sport. Among the latter, the next one who could return to reside in the Peninsula is Kimi Raikkonen, the last world champion in the history of Ferrari. The Finn, in fact, seems to be one step away from buying a house on at Lake Como, as evidenced by his presence in April in the Tremezzo area.
Since then, ‘Iceman’ and his family have conducted the negotiations for the purchase of a villa in the utmost secrecy, but between the 2007 Formula 1 World champion and his wife, Minttu Virtanen, it would have been the latter who fell in love in a particular way with Italy. After marrying Raikkonen six years ago in San Galgano, in the province of Siena, the former stewardess of a low cost airline has never hidden a certain weakness for beautiful country, so much so that he wants to raise his children Robin and Rianna here, respectively 5 and 7 years old.
The move to the fabulous area of Lake Como, however, would also allow their son Robin to continue his go-karts activity, as the young Raikkonen has shown a certain talent and expressed his love for go-karts. Kimi’s son would therefore have the possibility of running continuously on the Italian kart tracks, which have proven ‘nurseries’ of future champions. From Charles Leclerc to Max Verstappen, many drivers of the new generation have trained at the Italian kart tracks.
In addition to this, to facilitate the move from Baar (Switzerland), there is also the tax incentives granted to foreign workers who transfer their residence to Italy.

Kimi retired from racing at the end of last year: “I love Formula 1, but I can’t wait to throw away my watch and live without deadlines, to spend more time with the children.” Glacial from the outside, “Iceman” loves nature and hates telephones. He is capable of building furniture, planting trees, “fixing things when they break.” Once he even fixed the toilet on the Ferrari motorhome. However, he has not given up on racing completely: he manages a motocross team, in Finland he owns a house with a private track, and will return to drive in August in a Nascar series race in the USA. And who knows how many other things will come to mind in the Italian “base”. Maybe in a few years we will even see Robin join the Ferrari Driver Academy!
