Alfa Romeo Racing Finnish driver Kimi Raikkonen is looking forward to a fresh start in the Russian Grand Prix, after a series of unsuccessful races. The most recent took place last weekend in Singapore, where Kimi had run in the points earlier on in the race, but was struggling on old tyres when Toro Rosso’s Daniil Kvyat put in his ambitious move.

From a long way back, the Russian tried to go down the inside of the Alfa Romeo, but Kimi turned in normally and the two collided, bringing out the safety car: “Not exactly the end of the race I was hoping for but it is what it is. My tyres were degrading and whilst I could manage to stay in position after the first restart, at the second the tyres were too cold and so I lost three positions and from then on I was struggling.” – Kimi said.
“Singapore was another weekend where we showed some promise but things didn’t go our way in the race, so it was obviously a disappointment. The plan for Sochi is not different from what we aimed for so far: we need a clean weekend where we can show how good our car is and keep out of trouble. I haven’t been very lucky in Russia in previous years but hopefully we can turn the record around this time.” – the Alfa Romeo Racing Finnish driver explained, ahead of the 2019 Russian Grand Prix.
