Alfa Romeo Finnish driver Kimi Raikkonen returns on the Circuit de Catalunya track for the second and at the same time the last day of in-season testing. Kimi will be able to continue the test, but only thanks to the long night shift which the Alfa Romeo mechanics had to put in after rookie tester Callum Ilott crashed his car at turn three on Tuesday.
The Ferrari Driver Academy member was unhurt after his heavy impact at the corner. The team is still looking into the cause of the crash. Callum Ilott, who drives for Sauber Junior Team by Charouz in Formula 2, covered over 40 laps before his crash, as he showed a very good performance up until his crash and impressed the team with not only his consistency (normally a rookie has ups and downs) but also his feedback about the car. Now Kimi Raikkonen will look to complete Alfa Romeo’s scheduled programme of the Barcelona testing session at the Circuit de Catalunya.
