Juan Pablo Montoya warns Ferrari over 'clash of personalities' between Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton

Former Formula 1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya sees a clash of personalities looming between Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton at Scuderia Ferrari. The official announcement of the seven-time Formula 1 world champion’s move to Maranello starting with the upcoming championship has certainly shaken up the series. Many are already contemplating what the coexistence between Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc at Ferrari might be like.

Of the same opinion is former F1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya, who, speaking to RacingNews365, emphasized that in his view, there could be a clash between Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc at Ferrari.

“To be honest, it will be interesting to see how it ends up with Charles and Lewis in the car. There will be a clash of personalities. It will be fun to watch.” – he pointed out. The Colombian driver is not the first to predict a possible “feud” between the two. According to others, however, Charles Leclerc will be “eaten alive” by Lewis Hamilton because of his character.

What will Carlos Sainz’s future be?
Juan Pablo Montoya also spoke about the driver who will make way for Lewis Hamilton: Carlos Sainz. The Spanish driver does not yet have a contract for next season, but there are rumors of interest from several teams. The former Williams and McLaren driver sees the Spaniard as an excellent choice for Red Bull.

“I think Carlos at this moment would be the best choice in my opinion. This especially if we’re talking about Max leaving. If they’re thinking of letting him go, they must have a top-tier driver as a replacement. It wouldn’t make sense if Checo and Max were to leave and then there would be nothing left.” – the former Formula 1 driver continued – “At the moment, Sainz is doing his job. He’s doing what needs to be done. Could there be better drivers? Probably yes. However, I believe that in the right situation, Carlos can be really good.”

For this reason, the Spaniard is also on Mercedes’ radar to replace Hamilton himself. We also know that the Audi option for 2026 is on the table. Carlos Sainz could thus join Niko Hulkenberg at Stake in 2025 and then start the new era with the rings manufacturer the following year.
