With Lewis Hamilton joining Ferrari, the 2025 Formula 1 season promises to be one of high expectations and potential tensions within the Maranello team. The Briton will team up with Charles Leclerc, who in recent years has already proven capable of handling pressure and competing against established champions like Sebastian Vettel and Carlos Sainz. On this subject, Johnny Herbert, former Formula 1 driver and Sky Sports pundit, highlighted how the rivalry between the two could ignite the atmosphere within the Italian team from January onward.

“Charles won’t back down,” commented the Briton, recalling the Monegasque’s ability to assert himself over Vettel when the four-time champion joined the tricolor team. “When Vettel arrived, Charles managed to wrest control of the team from him. He won’t fear facing Lewis Hamilton, and the challenge will only push him to improve further. He’s aware of the threat Lewis poses but will do everything to be at his best when hostilities begin.”
The Carlos Sainz – Charles Leclerc challenge
The former Mercedes driver, who will replace Carlos Sainz, arrives with the goal of bringing Ferrari back to the top but will have to contend with a teammate determined not to give up ground: “Charles will be respectful but won’t miss the chance to prove his worth. He knows the internal rivalry could define the hierarchy and balance within the garage.”
With this new lineup, the Scuderia aims to be competitive in both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships. The pressure will be immense for both drivers, but the potential of such an ambitious pairing could be the key factor in restoring the Italian team’s former glory.
