For the second session in a row, a Ferrari F1-75 car topped the timings at the Hungaroring racetrack in Mogyorod. This time, it was Charles Leclerc taking P1 ahead of McLaren’s Lando Norris who put in a surprisingly fast lap to take second place.
Sky Sport’s Johnny Herbert offered his thoughts on the second free practice session for the 2022 Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix:
“The car just looks so balanced. That’s exactly what you need around this circuit. As I said in commentary earlier, you’ve got those long flowing corners and that just enables the Ferrari to have a little edge – downforce comes into it, but again, it’s all about that balance.” – the British former racing driver and current television announcer for Sky Sports F1 explained.
As for Mercedes, it was a dire session with both Lewis Hamilton and George Russell complaining of an unstable and unbalanced car. Johnny Herbert added: “Mercedes’ balance seems to be a bit of an Achilles heel. And with Lando putting in such a strong session like he did, that’s really hampering Mercedes’ ability to get to the front.” – the Sky Sport F1 expert concluded.
