Jock Clear, the English senior performance engineer working for Scuderia Ferrari, where he is currently the Driver Coach for Charles Leclerc, shares his thoughts on the Monegasque driver’s development since joining the Maranello team:
“Charles Leclerc’s development over the last two years at Ferrari has been tremendous. And that’s great for young drivers. Michael and Lewis are already icons. We’re talking about the best ever. But the young drivers can see themselves in Charles.”
“Charles was in the Ferrari Driver Academy, he was a Ferrari junior and now has grown to be one of the best in the field. Our young drivers see that and see themselves in him because they are also going down that path. He is a good role model.”
Can Charles become world champion?
“Surely. There is no doubt that he is world champion material. He works very well under pressure and is very focused and handles his emotions well and comes back strong after a bad performance. All these attributes, a kind of resilience, allow you to be good enough to deliver in a world championship.” – Jock Clear explained.
