According to today’s issue of Corriere della Sera, Italy’s oldest newspapers and is Italy’s most read newspaper, Jean Todt could return to Ferrari as a super-consultant, similar role as Niki Lauda had at Mercedes. As reported by journalist Giorgio Terruzzi for Corriere della Sera, there were already several talks between Jean Todt and John Elkann:
“Jean Todt could return to Ferrari in 2022. His mandate as president of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) expires on December 17, he expressed an unexpected idea to John Elkann: to return to Ferrari. The two have talked about it several times in recent months after a first contact at Le Mans this August” – Corriere della Sera informs.

“The hypothesis is that Jean Todt plays the role of super-consultant able to increase the political-sporting weight, lightening the commitment of the president and supporting in this sense also Mattia Binotto, with whom he maintained an excellent relationship. [..] “In short, the idea of returning to Ferrari is understandable and even plausible. We will see if it will be a mutual convenience, also because the name Jean Todt is heavy [past of Ferrari / present FIA].” – the report added.
The news regarding Jean Todt’s return to Ferrari has been discussed for a year. He has always denied the information, but the role he is discussing with John Elkann, less demanding than that of CEO or president, could really appeal to him. But beware Todt Jean is not satisfied: he may want to become a Ferrari shareholder. And with his son Nicolás, appreciated manager of Charles Leclerc and other young drivers, he could create a dangerous axis. But the bomb dropped by the Corriere della Sera will definitely make noise in the Abu Dhabi paddock this weekend.
