Former Formula 1 drivers Jean Alesi and Rene Arnoux are racing 1974-spec Ferrari 312B3 F1 cars in the Monaco Historic Grand Prix this weekend. The former Ferrari works drivers took part in the Serie F event, for three-litre F1 cars from the 1973-76 era.
Arnoux raced in the Monaco GP on 10 occasions between 1979 and 1989, finishing third with Ferrari in 1984. Alesi made 12 starts in the principality between 1990 and 2001, earning second on his debut with Tyrrell and taking third places for Ferrari in both 1991 (below) and 1993.
Charles Leclerc was one of the special guests in Monaco for this weekend and the current Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver had the chance to meet Jean Alesi.
Jean Alesi about Charles Leclerc:
“Charles is exceptional. He is young and an amazing talent. He is driving for Ferrari and that’s a little advantage at least to me. We wish him good luck and a better car than last year and that he becomes Formula 1 champion soon. Charles is someone who is doing Formula 1 good. The fact that he is Monegasque is fabulous because he grew up in the middle of the GP atmosphere. The Monaco GP is always a race, that fans can’t wait to watch.”
