Scuderia Ferrari is gearing up for the Monaco Grand Prix weekend with the aim of overtaking McLaren and solidifying its status as the second force in the Championship. Charles Leclerc looks set to secure a valuable pole position on the streets of Monte Carlo, which would put him in a strong position ahead of Sunday’s race.
Meanwhile, the Italian side await better times when they could once again compete on equal footing with the lightning-fast Red Bull led by Max Verstappen.
The signs of improvement shown in this early season suggest that it’s only a matter of time before the Maranello team closes the gap with the reigning champions. Indeed, the internal restructuring process led by Fred Vasseur continues to progress, with authoritative opinions painting a bright future for the Prancing Horse.
According to Jarno Trulli, for example, the Scuderia is making significant strides forward, opening up extremely interesting scenarios for the near future. The former Formula One driver discussed this in an interview with the Italian daily newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, where he also commented on Lewis Hamilton’s arrival in 2025, the likely arrival of Adrian Newey, and Carlos Sainz’s situation. Below are some of his most important comments:
Jarno Trulli’s comments to La Gazzetta dello Sport
“Everyone criticizes Ferrari. The problem is that in Formula 1, only one teams wins. And Ferrari, with its ups and downs, is always up there. It’s not a given: look at Mercedes. Ferrari is growing, it’s the second force, it could become the first. Even so, it’s already giving us enjoyment, thanks also to competent drivers,” Trulli said to the microphones of La Gazzetta.

“With Hamilton, you can’t go wrong. But I think Sainz would have done well too. I feel sorry for him, he’s a deserving driver. But that’s F1, I’ve been through it many times. You can become a victim of others’ choices, right or wrong.” – the Italian explained.
On Ferrari in general
“Ferrari is building a great team. Fred Vasseur is doing an excellent job, looking ahead, and we’ll see what happens if Adrian Newey arrives. But even in the immediate future: with him, the team grows, without the mistakes at the pit stops and on the wall of past years.” -Jarno Trulli concluded.
