Jacques Villeneuve has commented on Ferrari’s decision to replace Carlos Sainz with Lewis Hamilton for 2025.
Jacques Villeneuve’s comments
The 1997 Formula 1 World Champion expressed his thoughts as reported by the Spanish media outlet SoyMotor: “At Ferrari, there are two factions: one wanted Lewis Hamilton and the other wanted to keep Charles Leclerc.”
“Carlos Sainz was the sacrificial lamb but, ironically, it will be Sainz who comes out [of the situation] with a better arrangement.” – the former Formula 1 world champion believes.
“One might wonder if Ferrari is thinking: ‘What have we done?'” Jacques Villeneuve added in conclusion.

We will see if the track, which will be the only place to deliver an undeniable verdict, proves the former Canadian driver right.
