Ivan Capelli explains why Ferrari struggles in early stages of F1 races. Ivan Capelli explains why Ferrari struggles in early stages of the Formula 1 races.

After the United States Grand Prix, which was held last Sunday at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, former Formula 1 driver Ivan Capelli, during the TV program “Paddock Live,” analyzed the weaknesses of the Ferrari 2023 car. Here are his words.

Ivan Capelli reveals the weak point of the SF-23 car

Ivan Capelli stated, “They really struggled to generate grip with the tires in the early laps. We saw this in the comparison with Lando Norris when Charles was almost two seconds behind after only four laps. Carlos Sainz was close to him at the beginning, along with Lewis Hamilton, and what struck me about Ferrari in this race, as in many others unfortunately, is that it always struggles with the heavy car when it has a full load of fuel. It has a hard time in the early laps. However, from the middle of the race onwards, often with tire changes and strategy, Ferrari manages to match the times of the others. But the problem is at the beginning when the car is quite heavy and faces difficulties. Probably this gap was highlighted today, especially with Charles Leclerc’s car.” – the former Ferrari driver concluded at the end of the United States Grand Prix.
