Fred Vasseur’s explanations
After a lot of rumors that have been reported by various Italian news media outlets in recent days about Ferrari and the future of various members of the Scuderia, this week Frederic Vasseur wanted to clarify what is happening in the team. The Ferrari team principal and general manager clarified that no other key figure will leave the team, including both sporting director Laurent Mekies and chassis manager Enrico Cardile and also specified that he has an excellent relationship with chief executive officer Benedetto Vigna. The statements of the
French manager there had the goal of calming the team in view of the important race in Saudi Arabia, which is scheduled for next Sunday at the Jeddah Corniche circuit, a 6.174 km motor racing circuit built in the Red Sea port city of Jeddah.
The lack of answers
As mentioned, the number one of the Ferrari pit wall assured that he had a “constant and excellent” relationship with Benedetto Vigna. Fred Vasseur branded the rumors of disagreements between them as “gossip”, specifying “we discuss with each other on every topic” and have established a “very positive collaboration”.
From the columns of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport, journalist Fulvio Solms explained that the answer to the question posed (“Who is the team boss, you or Benedetto Vigna?”) was not convincing and the reply given by the French manager did not clarify “if today Ferrari is a team as it has always been and as other teams are, with full powers attributed to the team principal, or if the managing director constantly gets involved in key decision making processes”.
Corriere dello Sport believes that it would be precisely this unresolved issue that would cause “irritation among the top Ferrari engineers and technicians” in Maranello.

Speculation and moles
Leo Turrini, a long-time journalist of the Resto del Carlino newspaper and someone who knows the internal dynamics of Scuderia Ferrari very well, wanted to analyze Fred Vasseur’s press conference in a very frank way.
The well-known figure of Sky Sports drew attention to the meaning of the term “Being Ferrari” (“Essere Ferrari” in Italian), underlining how the French engineer cannot be surprised by “the enormous pressure that surrounds the team and the inevitable immense disappointment that accompanies a disastrous debut like that of Sakhir”, adding in rather colorful terms: “If you bullshit in Ferrari, one second later you are prosecuted on the web, on social networks, on TV, on the radio, in the newspapers” and continuing: “It is useless to complain about the whirlwind of rumors/allegations/speculation. It’s not that Ferrari has an army of moles. It is that Ferrari is at the center of the racing universe. And it always will be.” – Leo Turrini added.
In conclusion, in a clearly heartfelt way, Leo Turrini said: “Being Ferrari means getting rid of the “cooperative” bullshit, with the beatings of the horizontal structure, with a communication that can’t even handle a debate. But how the fu** is it possible that Ferrari doesn’t have an answer, right or wrong, for the thousands of nonsense from the present?”
