On the eve of the Formula 1 weekend in Brazil and ahead of the final round of the WEC championship in Bahrain, Leo Turrini engaged in some interesting thoughts about Ferrari’s future. The journalist and Ferrari insider stated that he wouldn’t be surprised if the Prancing Horse managed to win in the closed-wheel category before it succeeds in Formula 1. While expressing this idea, he also discussed the position of Chairman John Elkann. Here is an excerpt from his comments.
Leo Turrini’s considerations
“Well, I wouldn’t be surprised if Ferrari were to win a championship in Hypercar racing before with single-seaters in the Circus. Honestly, I’d find it… ‘logical’,” Leo Turrini writes on Profondo Rosso, his blog on quotidiano.net.
He then explains the reason for his statement: “After all, President John Elkann hasn’t hidden where he stands. It would have been enough to see the recent World Finals at Mugello to realize how Formula 1 was almost on the margins, during the Ferrari week at the Tuscan circuit. As I said, the embers under the ashes.” – he pointed out.
Finally, the journalist concludes his analysis by writing: “Because the allure (the poetic one) of endurance races is linked to reaching the finish line by any means possible. Pure survival. Without thinking that the WEC is a perfect world. Even in this 8 Hours of Bahrain.”
