In recent weeks, the FIA has published the results of the budget cap investigation in 2022. According to the results, no team exceeded the imposed financial limit, despite previous rumors suggesting otherwise.
However, Italian journalist Giorgio Terruzzi remains skeptical about this data and the cost cap in general. According to the motorsport expert, there are several ways to exceed the cap without being noticed, and the penalties are not severe, as evidenced by Red Bull’s advantage this year despite reduced wind tunnel hours.
“I don’t even believe that all the teams have been regular this year, but on the contrary, I think that the way things are handled in Formula 1 is rampant. I reiterate that the budget cap, in its formulation, is unmanageable and uncontrollable, and the FIA’s analysis is a scandal. I’m not saying this thinking about Red Bull or any specific team; I think none of the top teams are within the allowed limits. You can’t control it: if someone takes a wind tunnel elsewhere and says they are studying something else, no one can catch them,” the Italian journalist and motorsport expert concluded in his podcast.
