According to Frédéric Vasseur, Oliver Bearman is not already headed to Ferrari in F1. The Maranello team principal is tempering paddock enthusiasm and outlining the English driver’s future. The next driver for the Scuderia will be Lewis Hamilton, and discussing his successor is extremely premature. Nevertheless, the commitments of the young and talented Ollie Bearman in the sport are far from over.
The true fairytale of the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix weekend undoubtedly belonged to Oliver Bearman. After clinching pole position in Formula 2, the Englishman was called up to replace Carlos Sainz (suffering from appendicitis). With just one Free Practice session aboard the SF-24, the promising Prema talent secured 11th place in qualifying and then finished 7th in the race.
It was a stellar performance that convinced colleagues, fans, and insiders alike. However, caution must be exercised in considering the job done: “Don’t start talking about the future after Lewis Hamilton already,” clarified Frédéric Vasseur, as reported by Autosport. “Certainly, it’s a good sign for Ollie [Bearman], he has achieved an important milestone. He will return to racing in F2 at Melbourne and Imola, which is his most important goal.”
The Ferrari team principal outlines the next steps in Formula 1 for the Englishman: “He will soon start first free practice sessions with Haas, which will give him kilometers and experience in the car. What happened in Saudi Arabia is just a step towards the ultimate goal, not the finish line. He performed well during the weekend, but he will have other challenges to face in Formula 2.” – he continued.

Oliver Bearman will take to the track during the first free practice at Imola, Barcelona, Silverstone, Hungary, Mexico, and Abu Dhabi. “Everyone will stop talking about what happened in Jeddah in six months. We will talk about Mexico, Brazil, and how well or not he is doing. Every day will be a new challenge. If he maintains the same approach shown this weekend, it will go well.” – the French manager concluded.
