Ferrari junior Oliver Bearman had an excellent weekend in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix at the Baku city circuit, beating his teammate Nico Hulkenberg and scoring a point for Haas. Thanks to his performance, the Ferrari Driver Academy member set a remarkable record: let’s take a closer look.
No one like Oliver Bearman, not even Michael Schumacher
After scoring points for Ferrari in Jeddah, Oliver Bearman finished the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in the top 10, silencing many doubts about his abilities.
With his result in Baku, the Brit became the first driver in Formula 1 history to score points for two different teams in the first two races of his career.
As mentioned earlier, this is an absolute record; but do you know who came closest to this achievement? A certain Michael Schumacher, who, after debuting with Jordan in 1991, was forced to retire while running in seventh place, only to score points with Benetton in the following Grand Prix.
Is Ollie Bearman the future of Ferrari?
Oliver Bearman’s talent is becoming more and more evident, but will it be enough to secure him a seat at Ferrari in the coming years?
With Lewis Hamilton’s arrival and Charles Leclerc’s established role, the door seems to be closed for at least the next two or three seasons, but in the long term, Bearman could be a profile to keep an eye on.
In short, the very young Oliver from Chelmsford (who is eight years younger than Charles Leclerc and 20 years younger than Lewis Hamilton) seems to have all the credentials to become one of the best. And who knows, maybe he could write important chapters of his story in Formula 1 wearing Ferrari red.
