Yesterday afternoon, Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver Carlos Sainz took part in the 2023 Pirelli prototype tyre testing session at the Imola and completed 51 laps to help the Italian tyre manufacturer gather important data as they continue their development process for next year’s F1 compounds.
However, looks like Carlos Sainz unlucky streak has not ended yet. As we can see in these pictures from yesterday’s Pirelli 2023 tyre test at Imola, the Spanish driver had to stop on the track due to a power unit issue. While most likely during these tests Ferrari uses the old power units, which were first used during the pre-season testing sessions at the Circuit de Catalunya and Bahrain, it is also worth remembering that the Maranello team changed the power unit of Carlos Sainz’s F1-75 ahead of the Emilia Romagna GP as a precautionary measure, which may have been a good choice.
