In the first two Grands Prix of the 2021 Formula 1 season, held in Bahrain and Imola, Scuderia Ferrari achieved some good (and encouraging) results. In fact, on both occasions the Maranello team scored points, managing to finish in the Top 5 with both Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz at the 2021 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
The improvements of the SF21 compared to the SF1000 are evident, but the team, especially in this period of the beginning of the championship, is committed to studying the evolution of performance as pointed out by Ferrari sporting director Laurent Mekies.
“I think the best part of our job right now is seeing how the team grows, how two beautiful weekends in Bahrain and Imola come together” – said Laurent Mekies, quoted by Spanish daily sports newspaper AS – “But when you fight for fourth place, the feeling in the garage is very different from fighting for an eighth. It is very important to stay focused on ourselves and complete the grand prix, regardless of the result.” – the Ferrari sporting director concluded.
