While waiting for a potential return to the Formula 1 calendar, Imola is preparing for a significant redevelopment. Following the news of its exclusion due to the entry of new venues, a wave of controversy has emerged around this decision, both from the circuit’s management and from fans, who have always regarded the Romagna track as a venue rich in history and undeniable charm.
The plan to return to the top class
Now, the objective is clear: to return on a permanent basis to the Formula 1 calendar, and to achieve this, a series of upgrades will be required. First and foremost, the paddock will be expanded, along with the area that houses the medical centre. The zone surrounding the Tosa hairpin will also undergo a major redevelopment.
The old house located within the large green area has already been demolished. In its place, a modern and impressive “Casa degli Eventi” will be built, a structure designed to offer a unique vantage point from which to admire the cars as they exit Tamburello and climb towards the Piratella corner after Tosa.
The road network around the Tosa area will also be modified, with the introduction of new roundabouts and a second lane, as well as the addition of a dedicated cycle path on the bridge. In addition to the many racing categories that already compete at the circuit, namely the lower-tier championships, the venue will also host major music events.
These concerts will take place in an area known as the Music Park Arena, which according to some rumours could also serve as a fan zone for supporters in the future. What do you think about this decision? After this redevelopment, will Imola have a genuine chance of returning to the Formula 1 calendar?
