In a sport where there are only twenty spots, it is important to be ready at the right moment. And that’s what Ferrari Driver Academy member Ollie Bearman did in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix at the Jeddah circuit when, with an excellent performance driving for Scuderia Ferrari, he likely secured his future in Formula 1, according to recent rumors.
The Prema driver was called at the last minute in order to replace Carlos Sainz during the Saudi Arabian weekend, as the Spaniard was sidelined by an appendicitis operation. The Ferarri junior immediately proved to be very fast, managing to score some points at the end of a physically demanding race.
This has brought him to the attention of several teams for 2025. Among them is Haas, which seems ready to announce his signing for the next season. Confirming these rumors is the fact that the American team has decided to give him the opportunity to take part in the first free practice session for the Spanish Grand Prix, which takes place tomorrow at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona.
In a media session organized within the Spanish paddock, Oliver Bearman himself spoke again about his future. “Yes, there is a lot of speculation about my future. For now, I don’t pay much attention to it and try to focus mainly on the track,” said the Prema driver. “I don’t know when I will have news about it,” the Briton added.
“Of course, Ferrari is also involved in the various discussions. Fred is always very attentive to our progress. Obviously, I also spoke with Komatsu in Maranello since we didn’t have the chance to exchange a few words at Imola,” Oliver Bearman confirmed ahead of his Haas run in the first free practice session for the 2024 Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix.
