Work after the GP
Less than a month ago, on July 21, the Hungaroring circuit was the site of one of the most spectacular and entertaining races of this season, marked by McLaren’s one-two finish with Oscar Piastri’s first career victory (along with controversies over the Woking team’s orders) and yet another incident between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.
Now, however, the entire pit structure has been demolished, and the main straight of the circuit is filled with dirt, debris, and excavators. The owners of the Hungarian track, as widely announced, have begun the modernization works on the circuit. The facility, which entered the calendar in 1986, signed a very important contract extension with F1 last year, securing a place in the World Championship at least until 2032.
Agreements to be respected
“In the coming years, the Hungaroring will undergo significant development and renovation works, including a new pit building and main grandstand,” the Formula 1 officials commented at the time of the announcement. Now that moment has arrived, and the works are proceeding rapidly to make the Hungarian facility more comfortable for teams, workers, and spectators. These requirements are now fundamental to not losing a spot in a busy schedule of 24 GPs, with many countries vying to become Grand Prix hosts.
