Following a disappointing first round of the 2023 Formula 1 championship for Scuderia Ferrari at the Bahrain International Circuit, with Charles Leclerc having to end his race prematurely due to a power unit technical failure and Carlos Sainz unable to challenge for a podium finish, Ferrari was back in Maranello looking to analyze the data and understand what went wrong in the season-opener.
The focus is now on fixing the reliability issues which unfortunately affected the SF-23 car of Charles Leclerc in Sakhir, while also working on extracting more performance from the single-seater, as Formula 1 is heading to Saudi Arabia this weekend for round 2 of the 2023 Formula 1 campaign.
The Jeddah Corniche circuit, which hosts the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, should prove to be a better hunting ground for the Maranello team given the unique track characteristics. Ferrari was at the top of the rankings in terms of top speed at the Bahrain International Circuit, but lost valuable time to Red Bull in the slow and medium corners. The Jeddah circuit layout should enhance the key strengths of the SF-23 car and allow Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz to successfully challenge the Red Bull cars of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez in the second round of the season.
This year’s edition of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix will be the third in the history of the sport, after the 2021 race won by Lewis Hamilton for Mercedes and last year’s event won by Max Verstappen for Red Bull.
It all gets underway this weekend, starting with the first free practice session on Friday. Here is how to watch the 2023 Formula 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and all other races of the 2023 season for free.
