Ferrari are undoubtedly the sport’s most famous team, with more history and titles than any other, and most famous brand, with a piercing red that has stuck out through the good times and bad. This weekend’s Tuscan GP at the Ferrari-owned Mugello circuit will be the Scuderia’s 1000th F1 race. While they likely won’t be challenging at the front – it is a feat, and they are a team, worth celebrating.
Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes): “I always remember seeing the red cars [as a kid] and they normally did pretty well! They’re a massive part of history and a big, great team.”
Alex Albon (Red Bull): “Michael was a huge inspiration for me. I had a red bed. Red carpet. Red walls, everything red. So you could say I was a big fan.”
Daniel Ricciardo (Renault): “Ferrari are were a big part of the sport and was really the first team I was aware of as a kid in Formula 1. My dad was born in Sicily so that was his first team, and mine too. The red as well stood out. You associate any red car on the street with a Ferrari.”
Esteban Ocon (Renault): “Ferrari is motorsport. F1 without Ferrari, or Ferrari without F1, would not be the same. In history, my idol was Michael. When he was racing against Fernando, that’s what gave me the love for the sport. Seeing the red is always something special.”
Pierre Gasly (AlphaTauri): “Ferrari is such an iconic team and brand in the sport, in Formula 1 and also outside. Living in Italy the last few years, I really realised how big and how important Ferrari is for Italians and the whole world. I think there is something really special with that team.
Antonio Giovinazzi (Alfa Romeo): “I think Ferrari, not just for Italy, but for the world, it’s one of the most important brands. Of course, for Italians it’s a special team with a lot of history. Their 1000th race is just something amazing.”
Kimi Raikkonen (Alfa Romeo): “Obviously it’s a great team and I’ve got great memories that will always stay with me. It’s a big part of my life. It’s always a joy to come back to Italy, the country of Ferrari.”
Kevin Magnussen (Haas): “Ferrari is the number one car brand in the world. It’s the first play toy you get. As a kid growing up you dream about a Ferrari car one day, it’s just a fantastic brand in motorsport.”
Romain Grosjean (Haas): “That red colour. Out of every Formula 1 race, the red one hasn’t changed. It grabs the attention of the eyes. I see my boys playing with cars at home and their favourite one is the red one. Ferrari is just something unique, it’s got a whole country behind it.”
George Russell (Williams): “Ferrari are massive. Obviously I am a Mercedes driver but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t like Ferrari. I think everybody loves Ferrari and would probably dream of owning a Ferrari, so they’re massive. What they’ve achieved in the sport and who they are as a brand is huge. It is a privilege just to be on the same track as them. They’re going through tough times but I hope they return to success in the near future.”
