German racing driver Hans-Joachim Stuck, who has competed in Formula One and many other categories, was interviewed by leading German automobile magazine based in Hamburg, Autobild, and discussed about the 2019 Formula 1 season, Scuderia Ferrari’s prospects of successfully challenging Mercedes and Mick Schumacher being affiliated to the Ferrari Driver Academy.
Regarding Mick Schumacher, son of seven-time Formula One World Champion Michael Schumacher: “I’m excited about the boy. The Ferrari junior program is clearly a step forward and at the right time. There he will be perfectly prepared for F1. I believe the next Schumacher in Formula 1 can happen.” – Hans-Joachim Stuck.
Asked to comment on Sebastian Vettel and the German’s objective of becoming a Formula 1 world champion with the Maranello team, Hans-Joachim Stuck added: “Vettel hasn’t experienced his golden time at Ferrari yet. But it is also difficult when you come to Ferrari as Sebastian Vettel and live there with the infinite shadow of Michael Schumacher. In addition, Sebastian had to work under Maurizio Arrivabene for a long time. It took Ferrari way too long to remove him from his position. Now with Mattia Binotto, it can only get better for him.”
Hans-Joachim Stuck is also confident that Charles Leclerc will have a strong and positive impact from his first season with the Italian side: “Leclerc has shown in 2018 what he is capable of. The first races will decide who Ferrari will bet on, but Vettel is definitely a tough opponent for Leclerc.” – he concluded.
