Minute by minute, rumor after rumor, what could be the transfer of the decade becomes increasingly real: Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari starting from the 2025 Formula 1 season. In England, the deal is now considered done.
Sky UK made an initial announcement, while the BBC provided further details that indirectly seem to confirm the ongoing separation between the Brackley team and the seven-time world champion from Stevenage, who won six of these seven titles behind the wheel of the Silver Arrows.
At 3 PM Italian time, all members of the Mercedes team would have been summoned to the Brackley headquarters. The reason? A briefing with boss Toto Wolff and technical director James Allison. At this point, connecting the dots, it is plausible to imagine that this meeting would take place to communicate Lewis Hamilton’s departure at the end of this season. A peculiar and highly unpredictable situation.
The veteran with the #44 on the car had recently ratified a contract extension with Mercedes, with whom he has always collaborated, considering that the Stuttgart-based team was already the engine supplier for McLaren during his early career in Woking. The agreement, however, includes an ‘escape route’ exploitable at the end of the first year, and it is precisely through this that Lewis Hamilton would be free to move to Maranello.
