So far, the Formula One championship has been pretty monotonous with one driver and one team dominating all the time. Lewis Hamilton and his Mercedes left all of its rivals in the dust, some of them even further away.
Even though we saw just 6 races, everything is clear and in order not to see the above-mentioned two parties as champions at the end of the year, a massive miracle is needed.
Hamilton already proved that he doesn’t have any competition at the moment, and that his only opponents are history and himself. Everything else right now can’t endanger the Brit. As for Mercedes, their vehicles are far superior to any other. Occasionally, Red Bull comes close, but that is from time to time, as the Bulls fail to provide any consistency.
It is no wonder why everybody sees Hamilton as the champion already. The odds on his win are 1/33. Yes, you read it well. The next on the list is Max Verstappen at 16/1, then comes Valtteri Bottas at 30/1, and far behind Charles Leclerc 500/1. Vettel, the four-time champ is 750/1, Lando Norris, 1000/1, Lance Stroll 2000/1. By following this link, you can claim excellent offers from various bookies, with promotions like bet £10 get £40.
Many suggest that if he successfully overcomes September, he can be crowned already then. There are three races during that month, two in Italy and one in Russia. The Italian Grand Prix in Monza and Tuscan Grand Prix at Mugello are on 6th and 13th September. The Russian is on the 27th. Here you have the updated calendar for the entire year.
Hamilton is excellent in Monza, and has five wins, sharing the first place on the all-time list here with Schumacher. Vettel has three, and those guys are the only active multiple winners here.
Tuscany Grand Prix is brought in this year, and that presents an enigma, the same for us as for the drivers.
Russia is Mercedes playground with six consecutive wins here, four of them delivered by Hamilton. They are more than confident in Sochi, rolling over all of their opponents.
As you see, seeing Hamilton securing his seventh title right after these races is more than high. At the moment, Bottas and Verstappen are trying to keep the pace with the champion, but without some notable success.
Some experts are suggesting that Hamilton’s domination isn’t that much because of his fantastic driving skills, but due to a much better vehicle than competition’s. And really Mercedes is miles away from other manufacturers. Unlike all the others, Silver Arrows don’t have frequent problems and malfunctions; they are constant and without issues in any area. Unlike Ferrari, for example.
Mercedes to win the title is 1/500 now, and that tells everything. Red Bull is 80/1, Racing Point 250/1. The Prancing Horse sits at 500/1, and that is one of the biggest humiliations that Ferrari experienced in the last couple of years. One of the world’s biggest brands, and arguably the most influential F1 team, is not in the top 3. That is pretty painful for the army of fans. McLaren is also 500/1, and Alpha Tauri 4000/1, same as Williams.
We need to mention the upcoming race, the one that takes place in Belgium at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps.
Hamilton is the absolute favorite to win it, with the odds at 4/9. Max Verstappen and Valtteri Bottas are at 7/2, and Sergio Perez is 25/1. Lance Stroll 50/1, with Ferrari’s duo coming after – Leclerc 66/1, and Vettel shocking 100/1. Again another slap in the face for this team. Lando Norris is also 100/1.
Belgian GP is on August 30. This is the place where Hamilton doesn’t have that much success, and so far, he posted just three triumphs, the same as Vettel, whose victory came in 2018, one year after Lewis’ last. Leclerc captured the previous contest here, ahead of two Silver Arrows, Hamilton and Bottas.
