Guanyu Zhou is one of the serious candidates for the third seat at Ferrari in the 2025 Formula 1 season. The Chinese driver himself has acknowledged the interest from the Maranello team and confirmed that his representatives are in talks with Ferrari.
Following the announcement of his and Valtteri Bottas‘ departure from Stake, the possibility of joining Audi has been ruled out. Moreover, Guanyu Zhou currently finds himself without a seat for the next season, forcing him to explore other opportunities.
Almost immediately, rumors surfaced about his potential arrival at Ferrari as the third driver to replace Oliver Bearman. The English driver is set to race with Haas next season, effectively leaving the third seat at Maranello vacant.
Ferrari and Guanyu Zhou: a possible partnership?
“Ferrari is genuinely interested in taking me on as a reserve driver,” said the first Chinese driver in F1 history. His status as a driver without a seat for the 2025 Formula 1 season is one of the main reasons Ferrari is considering an experienced driver who can step in if needed.
“We are talking to several teams, and of course, Ferrari remains one of the teams genuinely interested in me. We have to see—obviously, there are many things that will happen over the next few weekends before making a decision. But it’s clear we are evaluating all the options we have and seeing which will be the best one for me,” Guanyu Zhou explained.
“From my side, I don’t want to commit to anything for the future just yet because I want to make sure everything is defined and clear and to have a solid commitment for the next project. I hope something happens and is decided soon. I think within the next few weeks, I’ll have a clearer idea,” the Chinese driver concluded.
