The McLaren driver will start from fifth position instead of second. Lando Norris, Charles Leclerc, and Carlos Sainz each move up one place. Both Ferrari cars are in the second row.

Just moments before the end of the first qualifying round, the Australian driver was involved in a clear impeding incident against Kevin Magnussen. At that moment, the 19th-placed Haas driver had just started his flying lap aiming to reach Q2.
