Davide Valsecchi’s Impressions from the Bahrain pre-season test
Italian former racing driver Davide Valsecchi has debuted as a YouTuber on his YouTube channel ValseMotori. The 2012 GP2 series champion highlighted that Ferrari’s best time is good news for the Tifosi, while pointing out that it does not mean that the SF-24 will be the best car: “A year ago, when I arrived in the paddock, the faces at Ferrari were very long because they were expecting a sensational tire degradation,” Davide Valsecchi said at the start of his analysis.
According to the former Sky pundit, only Max Verstappen proved to be better than Ferrari in the race pace simulations, but Davide Valsecchi approves of the work program set by the Maranello team with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz: “On the last day, Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen were on track together and at one point simulated a part of the race that was quite similar. Initially, Charles Leclerc was faster than Max Verstappen, who caught up at the end of the stint. However, Ferrari’s approach is correct, pushing the driver without conserving anything to challenge the car and thus find the base to start working from.” – the Italian added.
Qualifying remains an unknown, and Davide Valsecchi believes that no one has truly shown their full potential: “As they also did in F2 and F3 ten days earlier, in my opinion, no one has run completely low on fuel, and no one has pushed the engine to the limit in terms of mapping because it wouldn’t make sense to strain the engines, they already have last year’s data,” Davide Valsecchi concluded.
