Among the many reporters and journalists who commented and criticized the decisions taken by the Ferrari pit wall in several races during the first half of the 2022 season, the view of well-known journalist Giorgio Terruzzi definitely goes against the tide. A fresh, positive thought that looks beyond the mistakes of the Maranello team and goes on to defend Mattia Binotto.
Ferrari destined to remain at the top in the coming years
“I understand and share the disappointments of the Ferrari fans” – he begins the column for the Italian portal ‘RedBull.it’ – “Especially after fantasizing about future successes. However, I believe that there is a limit to everything: one thing is criticism, perhaps analytical with a minimum of positivity, another is to insult and overreact. This stuff is of no use to anyone. Mistakes have certainly been made, but let’s not forget the car, which will continue to fight at the top also in the coming years”.
In recent days, many fans have lined up against the Ferrari team principal asking for a change in management at the top, and the Italian journalist wanted to address precisely these fans: “I tell those who ask for the head of Mattia Binotto. Anyone else, in his place, would benefit for a long time from the work done so far. An incomplete job. Yet Binotto has explained it several times: one thing is to be competitive again – an objective that has been achieved – another is to win the world championships. The leap forward has inevitably produced some fragility, both in terms of engines and operations. Reliability is lacking, but it can always be improved. What cannot be changed is the fate of a car that is not very competitive”.
The aspects on which Ferrari still has to improve
Continuing his comment, Giorgio Terruzzi then exposed what he believes are the aspects that are most limiting Ferrari at the moment: “A more aggressive and effective vision on strategies is missing. This is a fact of objectivity resulting from the enormous pressure that every Ferrari man has to endure. Especially when it comes to winning, which the team isn’t used to yet. This is a factor that generates fear of making mistakes and therefore harmful prudence that paradoxically lead to making more mistakes. Those who want to support the team should try to cheer up and not stress, including the management” – he added.

The journalist concludes with a final comment about Mattia Binotto, which seems to be more appreciated abroad, while being strongly attacked in Italy: “The team principal has regularly defended the team, without blaming those who work with him. An attitude much appreciated by the foreign press, while not at all or almost in our part, where it seems very easy to make definitive statements that at times have little or nothing to do with those to whom they are addressed. Criticism can exist, of course, but with less certain excesses of presumption that are also raging here. I say this not simply to defend the Ferrari men, but knowing that a pinch of understanding, of welcome, a touch of positivity is good in these difficult times. Not only when watching a Grand Prix.” – Italian journalist Giorgio Terruzzi concluded.
