Vasseur under scrutiny
One of the key topics at the end of the Formula 1 season is undoubtedly Ferrari’s disappointing year, with zero victories and a drop from second to fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship compared to twelve months ago. The team principal Frederic Vasseur, who has led the Scuderia since January 2023, bears the primary responsibility for these results. Charles Leclerc has recently requested more time for the French manager, but if the 2026 car fails to be competitive, it will become impossible to find new excuses for the current team.
Minardi’s advice
Gian Carlo Minardi is an institution in Italian motorsport, with his team having competed in the Formula 1 World Championship from 1985 to 2005. Speaking to Quotidiano Sportivo, he offered some advice to Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur: “If I were him, I would finally try to learn Italian. In a competitive work environment, empathy often counts as much, if not more, than a salary increase.” – the Italian pointed out.
He added: “In his position, I would also be much more careful with public statements. For months he assured everyone that they were working to improve the SF-25, yet in the autumn he revealed that they had already decided in April to stop its development and focus entirely on 2026. A bit inconsistent, isn’t it?” concluded Gian Carlo Minardi.
Voices like Gian Carlo Minardi’s remind us of F1’s rich Italian legacy and the high expectations that come with wearing the red overalls. Fred Vasseur has the tools and talent at his disposal—now it’s about execution and connection.
