Germany’s famous two Formula 1 circuits, Hockenheimring and Nurburgring, are not giving up on the possibility of hosting a Formula 1 Grands Prix in the future.
Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali recently admitted to being disappointed by the German market’s approach, explaining that he does not see any great desire for a local circuit to re-join the Formula 1 calendar.
However, Jorn Teske, one of two managing directors of Hockenheimring GmbH, does not agree with the former Scuderia Ferrari boss: “The fact that the Hockenheimring has an interest in Formula 1 taking place here is not new.” – he said, as reported by DPA news agency – “We also all know the hurdles that exist for this.” – he added.
Nurburgring spokesman Alexander Gerhard also confirmed: “We would be delighted to welcome Formula 1 to the Nurburgring. It has to be economically viable,” he insisted.

Hockenheim manager Jorn Teske believes the main issue is a simple one: money.
“As long as there are so many countries willing to pay these sums for a Formula 1 race that cannot be refinanced at all, it will be difficult to play in this concert,” he admitted.
Jorn Teske feels that Stefano Domenicali’s recent statements represent “a way for Formula 1 to weigh up how important the market is to them. It is clear that the whole thing cannot be put on the backs of the race tracks. We don’t have the strength for that and it’s not our job either.” – he concluded.
