According to Franco Nugnes, a journalist for Motorsport.com, Ferrari has already identified Enrico Cardile’s replacement: a “Mister X,” not former Mercedes’ Loic Serra.
Ferrari, from Technical Director to the 2025 car
The French engineer, who will join Maranello along with Jerome D’Ambrosio in October, will be the Head of Chassis Performance Engineering and will report directly to the new Technical Director.
The identity of this new director is still unknown: currently, Frédéric Vasseur (team principal) is covering the role “ad interim” but is expected to do so only until the end of the summer.
Meanwhile, as speculation about “Mister X” continues, Ferrari is already thinking about the 2025 car, which, according to Nugnes, will be quite different from the SF-24.
The team’s goal is to work even harder than usual, given the imminent arrival of Lewis Hamilton, who will be donning the red suit next year.
The main changes will be: a pull rod front suspension, a redesigned chassis for different linkage mounts and weight distribution, and a body that moves the cockpit further back to increase the distance between the front wheel and the side pods, following a layout favored by Red Bull and McLaren.
In short, the coming months at Maranello will be very intense, aiming to replace the departing Cardile in the best possible way and getting started on what will be Hamilton’s first Ferrari.
