The 2023 Formula 1 season is upon us and, with just two weeks ahead of the official presentation of the new Ferrari 675 car, the Italian website f1ingenerale.com has gathered new rumors about the Ferrari F1 car for the next championship.
The Maranello team is expected to have season marked by redemption after a 2022 campaign that had started in the best way possible, with two race victories for Charles Leclerc from the first three rounds, but ended with an overall result far below expectations, especially after the promising and the solid pace of the F1-75 in the first half of the season. To be able to recover the performance gap to rivals Red Bull, the new project, internally called 675 for now, seems to be providing good feedback from both the power unit and the aerodynamic package. The latter is affected by some changes as a result of the 2023 technical regulation with the aim of completely eliminating the phenomenon of porpoising.
The changes to the technical regulations provide for a minimum height of the diffuser edge of the floor increased by 15mm compared to last season. The height of the connection point between the floor and the diffuser will also be increased by 10mm. Although these may seem small changes, from an engineering point of view they translate into important differences in the load levels that can be developed. As a result, a lower downforce could be expected compared to 2022.
However, according to a recent report from F1inGenerale, it would seem that the Maranello team has managed to increase the levels of downforce generated by the new single-seater. This increase, in numerical terms, is about 2% more than in 2022. Furthermore, drag would also have been reduced by 3%. By defining aerodynamic efficiency as the ratio between downforce and drag, it can be said that this is a significant improvement.

During the 2022 Formula One season, one of the most common problems encountered by the F1-75 was the difficulty in managing the tyres in the race. From the rumors collected, it emerged that the maximum depression point of the car was set back on the new project. This translates into a different aerodynamic balance which, clearly, must be combined with a good mechanical balance. All this information suggests that Maranello is working hard to try to close the gap from the world champions. However, as encouraging as the data is, it is not known whether the projects from Mercedes and above all Red Bull are equally promising.
