Frédéric Vasseur has warned that the smallest details could decide Ferrari’s 2026 title fight as the team enters the Formula 1 summer break with two victories and nine podium finishes from the opening 11 races. The Ferrari team principal also used his message to thank everyone at Maranello, along with the team’s partners and Tifosi, for their contribution during the first half of the campaign.
Those results have established Ferrari as the second-strongest team behind Mercedes. Lewis Hamilton is the leading Ferrari driver in the championship and sits 50 points behind leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli, while the Scuderia trails Mercedes by 72 points in the Constructors’ standings.
Ferrari reaches the 2026 halfway point with two victories
Ferrari’s two wins and nine podiums have kept the team involved in both championship battles, although the gaps to Mercedes demonstrate the scale of the challenge awaiting the Maranello squad after the break. A wider assessment of Frédéric Vasseur’s 2026 mid-season verdict has already underlined that the progress made so far is not considered sufficient.
Lewis Hamilton remains Ferrari’s best-placed championship contender, but his 50-point deficit leaves little room for further missed opportunities. Penalties and other costly episodes during the opening part of the campaign have also influenced Hamilton’s position in the 2026 title fight.
Frédéric Vasseur says small details will shape Ferrari’s title fight
In a post published on his LinkedIn profile, Frédéric Vasseur expressed his appreciation for the work completed across the first half of the season.
“As we head towards the summer break, I want to thank everyone at Maranello for the commitment, passion and hard work shown throughout the first half of the season.
“The competition is extremely strong, and the smallest details will define the outcome of the championship. Every single contribution counts, and only by continuing to push together will we make the most of the opportunities ahead of us.”
The message highlighted the collective effort required if Ferrari is to reduce its deficits in both championships. With Mercedes leading the way, Vasseur made clear that every department and every individual contribution could prove important during the second half of the season.
Vasseur thanks Ferrari’s partners and Tifosi
Frédéric Vasseur concluded by extending his gratitude beyond the team’s Maranello workforce, recognising the continued backing Ferrari has received throughout the championship.
“Heartfelt thanks also go to our partners and the Tifosi for their unwavering support throughout the season.
“Enjoy this time with family and friends, recharge your batteries, and let’s return ready for the second half of the season.”
Ferrari will therefore begin the remainder of the 2026 campaign chasing a 72-point deficit to Mercedes, while Lewis Hamilton attempts to close the 50-point gap separating him from Andrea Kimi Antonelli. As Vasseur emphasised, maximising every opportunity and eliminating even the smallest weaknesses could determine how far the Scuderia’s championship challenge can progress.
