The Ferrari Team Principal Explained His Approach to Leading the Team
Fred Vasseur: A Leadership with a Smile
A distinctive trait of Frederic Vasseur, which Ferrari fans have come to recognize in his year and a half leading the Scuderia, is undoubtedly the good humor and positivity that the Frenchman conveys in his interviews. The team principal has never hidden his intention to keep the team united and motivated, and his personality—far from gloomy—can certainly be a good glue in this regard.
“When people are committed and make sacrifices, it’s better to do so in good spirits,” Fred Vasseur emphasized to the Belgian outlet Rtbf, adding: “This doesn’t mean not being strict and tough, or that we don’t sometimes make difficult decisions. Smiling doesn’t make you slower. But when I have a coffee, I’d rather do it with a smile than with a frown.” – the French manager pointed out.
The Best Job in the World
After 20 months at the helm of Ferrari, Frederic Vasseur was able to reflect on his experience: “Ferrari is passion, in every sense. Everyone is passionate about the brand, and the emotions surrounding it are immense. Italians express their emotions much more than Anglo-Saxons, and this makes the team special. Managing a team where people are emotional is more fulfilling. I think I have the best job in the world. The only person I asked for advice before choosing Ferrari was my wife, because I’m aware of the sacrifices I ask of my family.” – the Ferrari team principal concluded.
