Formula 1 is almost ready to rev up its engines after the winter break, and looking ahead to the next two years, the team principal of Scuderia Ferrari HP has stated that signing Lewis Hamilton was the best decision ever made. The Frenchman believes the Briton’s experience will be crucial for squeezing every bit of performance out of the 2025 Formula 1 season, the last with the current generation of cars, and will also help them better tackle the regulatory changes scheduled for 2026.
In an interview with Autosprint, Frederic Vasseur said: “I don’t have the presumption or arrogance to comment on other teams’ choices. I think there’s no rule behind these decisions, but you have to do what’s best in your own context at a given moment. I believe Hamilton is the best solution for us today, even with the regulatory changes of 2026 in mind.” – the former Alfa Romeo team boss pointed out.
The Frenchman concluded by saying: “It’s not just a matter of speed or pure performance. He will bring the experience of a seven-time world champion who has worked with top teams. It’s very positive for a team to have someone who brings different experiences, especially of Lewis’s caliber. We must have the right approach and take advantage of his experiences. It’s always important to try to learn from those who come from outside, whether it’s Hamilton or someone else. I know Lewis very well, I know his motivations, his way of working. I don’t want to make comparisons with other drivers, but I’m convinced he will fit perfectly into our system.”
