Fred Vasseur rallies Ferrari and highlights “even Verstappen makes mistakes under pressure”. Ferrari's F1 team principal, Frédéric Vasseur, rallies the team.

Frédéric Vasseur is confident: Max Verstappen will make more mistakes if Ferrari can put him under pressure. The team principal of the Prancing Horse spoke about the Monaco Grand Prix, won by local favorite Charles Leclerc. An exciting triumph for the Ferrari driver, securing his first Formula 1 career victory at his home Grand Prix.

Formula 1 leaves Monte Carlo with renewed enthusiasm. Despite it being one of the most boring races in recent history, the Top 5 in the final standings favor those who want a more open Championship: two Ferrari cars, two McLaren cars, one Mercedes, and no trace of Red Bull. The first, that of Max Verstappen, only sixth at the finish line after an error in the final stages of the qualifying session.

“I don’t want to draw conclusions from this weekend,” explains Frédéric Vasseur. “But if you think about Imola, I believe Verstappen made more mistakes there than in the past three seasons combined. When you don’t have to push harder and are in your comfort zone with the strategy, you won’t make mistakes. I think they were in this situation.” – the French manager pointed out.

“Last year we could fight with them in qualifying, but then in the race, they had an advantage of four or five tenths. Under these conditions, even if you make a mistake, it is inconsequential. This season, this is no longer the case.” According to Frédéric Vasseur, both Ferrari and McLaren have closed the gap to Red Bull, and now it’s time to get the most out of this battle.

“We must not draw conclusions, they will come back stronger,” concludes the Ferrari team principal at the end of the Monaco Grand Prix in Monte Carlo – “I don’t think it will be easy until the end. But overall, we have achieved good performances in Melbourne, we did well in Imola and Miami, with different types of compounds, different types of asphalt, different layouts. It will be fought until the end.”
