Fred Vasseur is proving to be a skilled conductor: he had promised to bring Ferrari into the fight for the Constructors’ Championship until the final race of the 2024 Formula 1 season, and the French team principal has kept his word.
Of course, McLaren heads into the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend with a 21-point lead over the Reds and is therefore the clear favorite for the final GP of 2024. However, this fiercely contested championship has often defied expectations, delivering unpredictable and spectacular races.
The Scuderia has been without a title for 16 years, and while the odds are slim for the Prancing Horse, it is ready to take on McLaren in a battle that remains wide open…
“For the first time since Formula 1 entered its hybrid era, we’ve managed to fight for a title until the final race. This is an important milestone, and this weekend we’ll try to do even more. Of course, we have to be realistic: we are mathematically still in the race, but the title is very difficult to achieve because, even if we finish first and second, it might not be enough. McLaren has a 21-point advantage and could settle for a third and fifth-place finish.”
Fred believes in the potential of the Scuderia…
“Challenges, however, are part of Ferrari’s DNA, and we want to give it our best shot. We’ve prepared thoroughly for this event, knowing that qualifying will play a crucial role and that our car performs better in the race. Charles, Carlos, and the entire team will give every last drop of sweat to try to bring the title home.”
