Fred Vasseur talks again about Ferrari’s future: focus on 2026, but eyes also set further ahead
The Team Principal of the Scuderia spoke about the team’s long-term vision and the challenge of the upcoming regulations. According to Frédéric Vasseur, the 2026 season represents a huge opportunity for Ferrari, but also a significant test that carries several risks. The uncertainty remains around the work being done by rival teams, and Vasseur highlighted the key factors needed to build a successful long-term project.
His contract renewal was confirmed during the summer break of the current season. Since then, several rumors had circulated about the possible arrival of Christian Horner in his place, but all were quickly denied by the team, which reaffirmed its full trust in its current Team Principal.
The challenges of the next season
In an episode published by Bloomberg, Frédéric Vasseur discussed Ferrari’s future between 2026 and the team’s long-term objectives. The upcoming season represents a crucial point for the Maranello squad, which needs to fight again for a championship title after a long drought that began in 2008.
“2026 is probably the biggest change in Formula 1 over the past 30 years. Today we start from a blank sheet, and we have to build our own project,” said Fred Vasseur. “We don’t know if our competitors are going in completely different directions. You have to trust your own choices and have the confidence to keep moving forward. It’s a challenge because we have absolutely no idea where the others are.”

Looking further into the future
Another key aspect is the continuity of Ferrari’s project: “The challenge is to stay where we are in terms of success visibility and to keep promoting technology. The difficult thing is that we are now in the position of having to decide what the 2035 regulations will look like. I’d say we practically have to decide them now,” explained the Ferrari Team Principal.
“It means it’s not easy to imagine what the car industry will look like in 2035. I think people are changing quite fast now, and that’s a real challenge.” With these words, Vasseur concluded his remarks by touching on the most complex aspects of Ferrari’s long-term planning.
